So, before I start my post, I would just like to apologise for me being missing for a long time. I've been trying to fix up some of my grades by taking some time to read a few of my notes. I hope I haven't caused anyone some lack of knowledge for 2 weeks.
But seriously, I do apologise for not updating this blog in awhile. I'm back to start posting a few things now.
So to catch up on recent times, Diablo 3 just came out today. And from my gaming resources, the Koreans have set the bar for finishing the game first 10 hours ago. 4 hours before Singaporean servers even went online. All that hype.
Obama just "came out" and said "I think that gay couples should be allowed to be married.". This is a really big move on his part as he may lose voters who are anti-gay marriage and gain some who are pro-gay marriage. Could go either way considering how Wall Street stopped funding him though. Meh
But today, I would like to address something that I've managed to miss until a day or two ago.
In the middle of a Saturday night, a Ferrari had crashed into a taxi after running a red light. The accident eventually included a motorcycle, injured about three people and killed two people when the accident happened.
Driver of the Ferrari was a man named Mr Ma Chi, who was driving under the influences of alcohol, while the Taxi driver, 52-year-old Mr Cheng Teck Hock, was a middle income father of 3 who, according to twitter sources, did not have insurance and was the sole breadwinner of his family. The cabbie was also carrying a 20-year-old Japanese lady. Recently, she was identified as Ms Shigemi Ito. The Ferrari was also carrying a passenger who seemed to have survived the crash.
The entire incident was also shot by someone who posted it as a youtube video.
Alright, before I continue, I would just like to be angry at the person who made the video. How could you say something like "Lucky" at a crash like that? If I were to be driving and see a crash at that speed, I would stop and help rather than continue to drive on.
In their defence, I would like to point out should the Ferrari drive any slower, the videographer would have died and that would make his "Lucky" comment understandable. But still, it kind of annoys me.
Anyway, following the story, there have been many rants and rages from netizens about different reactions from Singaporean media. Some point out that local tabloids glorify the Ferrari driver by making him the victim rather than the perpetrator. (This move disappoints me, local tabloids which I shall not name. Then again, you've already disappointed me anyway) Some witnessed the taxi passenger, Ms Shigemi Ito, being mugged as she was dying. Some claim that Ma Chi was a money launderer who helped his brother launder dirty money.
By the way, the local tabloids really have disappointed me. -AHEMSPHAHEM-
All jokes aside, the junction of Rochor Road and Victoria Street, which the incident had occurred in, has a history of car crashes.
The Ferrari driver died on the spot while the taxi driver sustained head injuries and was sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) along with the Ferrari passenger, who suffered the same injuries, and the motorcyclist (God forgive me, I can't find his name anywhere) who suffered spinal injuries.
The taxi passenger, Ms Ito, however, was unconscious and was brought to Singapore General Hospital (SGH). Sadly there was no silver lining as she died soon after.
According to SPH's article on this, Mr Ma first came to Singapore four years ago with his wife and child.
Friends said he was a hard-working and righteous person who worked as a financial investor. He was also applying for permanent residency in Singapore.
And also, according to his wife, he likes to drive home late because there is less traffic then. (Which is true. But does not fucking justify your reasons of running a fucking red light, bloody idiot.)
So right, I think this is pretty much on the information part. Now here's a little picture of green scenery in hopes that you'll be able to digest the above info better and keep yourself from punching the nearest PRC member.
So much better, don't you think? Calms your mind. (Quite frankly I pulled this off google images under the search "Green Scenery". I hope I don't get sued.)
Now let us move on to the next part of this post, shall we?
"Reasons why people cause stirs"
So people on twitter are saying how petty we (as Singaporeans) are on this whole situation.
Let's take some time off this moment to think. The Ferrari driver, who was driving under the influence of alcohol, crashed his car into a taxi, whose driver doesn't earn half as much money as the dude with the Ferrari along with a passenger who was just going home from some event. A motorcyclist was hit. (Just before any shitstorms are started from this, wealth doesn't affect my judgement at all.)
Now, lets take out the facts which pissed me off.
The Ferrari driver was a PRC. He was the one who ran the red light. As seen in the youtube video above. That man had driven under the influence of alcohol. Yet our media flourishes the PRC member as the victim. They've also reported this man to be a " a hard-working and righteous person who worked as a financial investor who was also applying for permanent residency in Singapore." (From an SPH article. No date was given. However, judging from the facts of 3 deaths and 2 injuries, it must be recent. Also, there were several Chinese newspapers who said similar things)
Why are you glorifying a man who CAUSED THE DAMNED INCIDENT? You run a fucking newpaper. Your job is to deliver accurate news and not fuck up on it. People look to you for information and you twist facts that cause the entire situation to be horribly misinterpreted. The reason why I'm even angry is because this mistake gets people hating the wrong people. And not everyone depends on the internet for information.
Away from the media and into the PRC situation we have.
Somewhere on the internet, a netizen named Martin (in Real Life) defended the PRC as reported by this article, saying how "you shouldn't suka suka accelerate also! WHAT IF GOT ONCOMING TURNING VEHICLES, DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN ONLY NIA…"
Dear Mr Martin, as you can see from the video I put up above that the accident happened on the rightmost lane. If you actually drive a car, you should know that (a) turning vehicles slow down during turns and don't ram the accelerator to make a turn (that is not turning, that is how initial D drivers drift their cars) (b) turning vehicles make turns to the nearest lane, not the one where the taxi driver was on before he got hit (c) showing us our own driving manual does not make you any smarter. It just shows how much of a douche you are and how wrongly you can interpret information
These comment eventually started the current war between PRCs and SGreans.
Maybe the fact that the PRC's family members were absolutely not APOLOGETIC about how their member caused the deaths of 2 people and a SPINAL INJURY of a motorcyclist had a hand as well?
Dear Mrs Ma,
Yeah, your husband died. I'm pretty sure you're all grieving and crying over his death. Its understandable. However, your husband had a stable income. The cabbie your husband killed has a family that now has monetary issues. A sorry would have been nice.
"And to ending this"
This is probably me being sleepy and grumpy, but for causing 2 deaths and a spinal injury of an innocent bystander, I think this man really deserved his outcome.
Also, this whole post seemed rushed and unhealthily long to me. Sorry folks, but you'll have to heck it. I'm really tired from my recent work.
So, although it's been an unhealthily lengthy and saddening post, but here's hoping your day brightens up.
Cheers
