I just experienced an emotion known as OH-I-WANNA-DIE-NOW-ITS-SO-SAD-YET-SO-MEANINGFUL-AT-THE-SAME-TIME

What a weird title.

So, the subs for the last episode of Guilty Crown came out and made every guy who watched it turn female for 1 minute and every girl weep in their hearts for probably a whole hour.

Probably. I'm not a girl.

Below is a plot summary so if you don't like spoilers, do go watch the 22 episodes of it before reading this.

In an alternate universe, a virus attacked Japan during 2009. This incident known as "The Lost Christmas" plunges Japan into chaos.  An international organization known as the GHQ intervenes with martial law and restores order to Japan at the cost of its independence. Time skip forward a few years.

So the anime starts off with a slightly anti-social boy named Shu who was caught in a fight with terrorist group rebelling against the GHQ named the Undertakers/Funeral Parlour (Depending on who's your subber). He meets Inori who gives him the most powerful chemical weapon known to all of mankind: The Void Genome. Using the Void Genome, he can pull out weapons known as Voids from human hearts.

The Funeral Parlour's leader, Gai, decides to recruit him to fight for his group. Which is essentially what the first arc is. At the end we learn about Gai's and Shu's past and how they are both related to The Lost Christmas.

Beginning of the next arc, the whole of Japan has been cordoned off from the rest of the world to prevent spreading of the virus. Shu and his friends, from both school and The Funeral Parlour, struggle to maintain order while surviving in school with the rest of the school community. Doesn't sound so good, does it?

This arc is rather complicated, so I can't explain the whole situation without spoiling the story. Just know that its awesome and the ending is equally awesome.

"Spoiler Alert" doesn't really work because it just makes people curious and want to read the spoilers. But I'm going to black out the text below so that only smart people can read it. (Or just tech-savvy people)

The ending fit the storyline so well.In order to save the world, Shu wanted to absorb the virus from the world. However, Inori being the faithful and awesome girlfriend, sacrificed herself so Shu doesn't need to. In the end, everyone has a reunion and enjoys being alive.

We see Shu holding a walking stick, which means he's either blind from the Virus or lost a leg during the process of fighting Gai. Shu sits on a bench in the park after the reunion, puts on his earpiece and listens to Inori's singing, reminiscing of their time together.

In the whole process of the anime, you see Shu develops from a quiet, emo kid who fears conflict and learns to stand up for himself. He then becomes king and saves a bunch of people with weak voids (led by Souta to prove that they're not useless) at the cost of Hare, who dies from her void getting destroyed.

At this point, we see the story's setting changing from a post-apocalyptic peace into a desperate attempt to live as Shu becomes a tyrant in his school. They lead a desperate attempt to fight for freedom which results in Shu getting betrayed by the entire school who was double crossed by Gai and the whole story becomes complex.

His development doesn't end there. When he gets his second Void Genome, he realizes what kind of person he truly is and what he wants in this world, which is Inori. Who is captured by Gai. The typical course of action RPG is to save the princess from the boss castle.

The ending failed to address some things which I want to know. Is Kuhouin still alive after getting shot by the UN soldiers? What happened to Daryl the butcher after getting saved by his only friend? Was Kenji the one shot or was Shinbugi shot? (Ok, this was maybe a bit overthought.) Its one of the moments where a fan craves for more about what happened with the characters, much like Ane Doki or Rave (Both are awesome Manga series with nice endings), or left to our own imaginations as the characters finally obtain the peace they wanted.

But of course, I'd love to hear your opinion on this Anime series so please do leave a comment. I apologise for my lack of updates recently, but I promise you I will update constantly, though irregularly.

Have a nice day, guys.
