News Flash;News in a flash: Part 2

Alright, doing it in segments make me feel like people actually read my blog.

-Self-esteem self-destructs-

So, here's the next little thing which caught my interest.

NUMBER 2: The underage prostitute

If you actually watch the news, you might have heard of a 19-year-old named Steph Thia (a.k.a Chantelle). She looks like this:

Why the big fuss?

A little general knowledge about Singapore's law: We're allowed to have sex at age 16 (with consent from both parties), allowed to be have commercial sex/be prostitutes at age 18 and watch movies with sex scenes at age 21. Go figure.

Still, no reason for a big fuss when she's 19 already, one might point out

She's 19 this year. That makes her 18 last year and 17 during 2010.

See the point?

Although, that's not the only reason the media is making such a huge attack at her situation.

Its the people she's hired by.

Currently, the only list I have is from Alvinology.com, who has made a very updated list of customers this young lady has served.

If you were to head to that list, you'd realise that a there are a few big names on it.

For example, Mr Lee Lip Hong, a high-civil servant who used to be Pei Chun Public School's principal, a goldmine for the media.

Then you have the grandson of Runme Shaw, the one who made Shaw Organisation and Shaw theatres, Howard Shaw, Executive director of Singapore Environment Council. Another goldmine.

Tan Wee Kiat (formerly known as Jarrod Song Eu Loong), 39, ex-head of strategic planning at Police Training Command.

How is this any relation to you, the one sitting behind a computer and reading this, you ask?

The trend here is that these people are head of different markets and sectors who chose to spend money and time having sex with an underage girl without considering the consequences before doing so. Which is, as stated before, illegal.

Why so much emphasis? To the public and the law, its more of the fact that they had sex with an underage prostitute which gets to them. Personally, its a reminder that everyone has dirty laundry that they obviously don't hang for others to see. Even people who come out on top in the game of life.

What does get to me is the fact that these people had the brains and thinking intelligence to reach where they are now only to have it crumble away just because they didn't think to ask a question: "How old are you?".

Kind of gives you hope, though.

A little opinion to the young lady who has sold herself, and to the many others willing do this to themselves, please stop being so stupid. Be a girl you want your daughters to be, and a girl you want your son to date.

Ok, so on to the next story. Since this news is a week old after doing this.

By the way, should this post go missing, its most likely because I deleted it. I got the list from Alvinology's site and left a comment saying if he requests I take this post down because of the list, then I will do it.
